| Early Life and Education Kristen Wiig was born in Canandaigua, New York, and grew up in Pennsylvania and New York. She initially attended the University of Arizona but left college before completing her degree. She later moved toward acting and comedy, eventually joining the improvisational comedy group The Groundlings in Los Angele Her work with The Groundlings became an important stepping stone in her career.
