Jim Klock Biography

Jim Klock was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and developed a career path that initially took him far away from Hollywood. Before establishing himself as an actor and filmmaker, he spent about 20 years in law enforcement. His work included undercover narcotics investigations, SWAT tactics, hostage negotiations, crime-scene processing, interviews, interrogations and evidence collection.

His law-enforcement experience eventually became a valuable asset when he moved into entertainment. Klock has explained that his professional experience gave him practical knowledge that could be incorporated into acting, writing and directing. He also worked as an instructor in areas including narcotics investigation, community policing, officer survival and defensive tactics.

Klock's acting career developed across television and film, with appearances in series such as 24, Las Vegas, Desperate Housewives, Criminal Minds, Jericho, Justified, Nashville and True Detective.
