The film brings together Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri at the centre of the story, with the three women's attempt to conceal the incident forming the main narrative while the crowded colony around them creates additional complications.
The story takes place in Adarsh Colony, where Rekha, a widowed woman with a controversial reputation, lives alone after raising her two daughters. Her elder daughter Jaya is married and lives in Patna, while her younger daughter Sushma has become a social media influencer dealing with the aftermath of a public scandal.
Things take a dramatic turn when Charitra Kumar Gupta, a self-proclaimed guardian of morality in the colony, discovers that Rekha has secretly taken money from the wine shop where she works. When he threatens to expose her, Rekha invites him over to discuss the matter.
However, the situation quickly spirals out of control. During a confrontation, Gupta is accidentally injured, and Rekha believes she may have caused his death. Panicking, she calls her daughters home in the middle of the night.
A Night Filled With ChaosAs Rekha and her daughters attempt to deal with the situation, they discover that Gupta is still alive. Fearing legal consequences and blackmail, they decide to keep him hidden until they can resolve the financial problem.
What follows is a series of hilarious and tense events. Gupta's family begins searching for him, Jaya's husband arrives unexpectedly, and old family secrets start resurfacing. At the same time, a mysterious ransom demand creates further confusion and suspicion among everyone involved.
The women are forced to confront years of unresolved emotional wounds, creating some of the film's most powerful and entertaining moments.
Family Conflicts Come to the SurfaceAs tensions rise, Rekha, Jaya, and Sushma begin blaming one another for their problems. Long-held frustrations, disappointments, and misunderstandings erupt into emotional confrontations.
Meanwhile, Gupta regains consciousness and attempts to use the incident for personal gain. Instead of moving on, he tries to manipulate and threaten the women, demanding control over Rekha's property and attempting to humiliate them publicly.
How the Women Fight BackRefusing to become victims, the three women work together to expose Gupta's hypocrisy. They gather evidence that weakens his credibility and challenge his attempts at intimidation.
Rekha eventually reveals the truth about the incident, presenting it as an act of self-defense. Her courage shifts public perception and exposes Gupta's hidden behavior.
At the same time, Jaya finds the strength to stand up to her controlling husband and begins taking control of her own future.
Ending ExplainedThe film's final twist reveals the identity of the mysterious ransom caller. The person behind the scheme turns out to be Goldie, Gupta's teenage daughter.
Goldie had secretly saved money for years in hopes of escaping an arranged marriage and pursuing her dream of becoming a singer. After witnessing the events surrounding her father, she used the opportunity to recover the savings she had lost.
In the closing scenes, Goldie appears on national television performing under her real name, while Rekha and her daughters finally move forward together. Although they have endured judgment, conflict, and hardship, they emerge stronger and more united than ever.
Final VerdictMaa Behen delivers an entertaining mix of black comedy, suspense, and emotional storytelling. Beyond its humor and thrilling twists, the film explores themes of female empowerment, family relationships, social judgment, and personal freedom.
With strong performances, clever writing, and an engaging narrative, Maa Behen stands out as one of the more distinctive Hindi releases of 2026 and offers viewers both laughter and meaningful reflection.
